08670 and D4157 (08927) stand near the ballast sidings at Bescot. This shot was taken at 07:18 on Friday 29th March 2019, both locos having arrived the previous evening. GBRf were due to take over Network Rail's LDC operations at Eastleigh and Bescot on Monday 1st April. Unlike DBC, who used mainline locos to shunt the yard at Bescot, GBRf preferred a shunt loco at Whitemoor. Hence it wasn't entirely a surprise when a shunt loco turned up at Bescot in late March. What was a surprise - to me at least - was the appearance of two Class 08s. The last DBC shunter to leave Bescot was 08623, which departed on Thursday 31st August 2017. Just under 19 months later Class 08s re-appear. The tethered horse is a Black Country staple, historically found on any piece of urban grassland. His hay and water bucket can be seen to the left.
