86402 arrives at Birmingham International with 1A46, the 09:40 Pwllheli - Euston, on the afternoon of Saturday 27th May 1989. My notes are ambiguous with regard to the time of this shot, but it looks like the train was running the thick end of an hour late - not unusual for a summer Saturday Cambrian train. In January 1989 I took another shot of 86402, and remarked "blue loco!" in my notebook, which seems to confirm my memory that this was one of the later electrics to retain BR blue livery. It would become 86602, and lose its blue livery in favour of Railfreight grey, by the end of the year.
