45110 waits time at Sheffield on the evening of Wednesday 10th February 1988. The train is 1M66, the 16:27 Leeds - Nottingham, due away
around 17:30. These were also the last months for the Peaks. Except for celebrity 45106, the last ones were taken out of traffic in early
August. By chance I had 45106 for haulage on this day, it took us back to New St hauling a failed HST ("fire at Mexborough" says my notebook,
rather cryptically). This was a Plymouth-bound train, probably 1V86 from Newcastle.
