The end is near for Class 08s at Bescot, although that wasn't apparent when this photo was taken. 08703 stands on a low loader in Sandy
Lane, shortly before departing to the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway on the evening of Thursday 19th March 2026. It had been replaced by
08738, which joined 08460 at Bescot. Around one week later 460 departed and wasn't replaced. And then less than a fortnight after that 738 departed,
leaving no shunt engines on site for the first time in seven years. Class 66s were used thereafter, mirroring what happened when DBC dispensed with
their 08s a decade earlier.
