Hornby Railroad 45t tanks
. The tank barrels are moulded in two longitudinal pieces, with a very visible seam. These barrels were split open and a weight (in the form of a bolt) inserted before the two halves were glued back together. The seam was then filled and filed down in an attempt to hide it. The barrels were then sprayed gloss black prior to transfers being added. This was followed by a coat of matt varnish and then some weathering. The original ladders are a bit chunky, so were discarded in favour of finer ones (sold for use as signal post ladders, but just the right size for use here). The chassis of these wagons normally have plastic wheels. These were replaced with non-magnetic metal wheelsets, and finally the original tension lock couplings were removed in favour of Kadees.
