Bachmann Class 24
This is a Bachmann Class 24 acquired new from Rails Of Sheffield. It's the 2019 tooling, with a 21-pin DCC socket, factory-fitted sound and lighting. Originally numbered 24137 it's been renumbered to 5146, and weathered. Out of the box this model had 0000 headcodes, but for a pre-1976 loco these needed to be replaced and alternatives were sourced from Bachmann themselves.

The factory sound is fine, but the supplied speaker was poor and had to be replaced. Lighting is very good on this model, with tail lights that are switchable so can be turned on for light loco moves and off when hauling a train. However both tail lights are illuminated when on which is wrong for this period so one of them had to be blanked off at each end. Also the cab lights are not independently switchable, so are either both on or both off.
